Get back to the good part.

Get help joining a Quip Riot room, reconnecting, signing in and setting up your shared screen. Find answers for hosts and players.

Something holding up the party?

My room code does not work. What should I check?

Ask the host for the current six-letter code or scan the QR code again. Check that the host’s room is still open. If the room has expired, the host needs to create a new one.

I lost my connection. Can I come back?

Open the same join link in the same browser on the same device. Keep its browser storage intact so Quip Riot can restore your player identity. Changing browsers, using a new private window or clearing storage can make you appear as a new player.

The game is waiting for someone. What can the host do?

Check whether someone is still choosing or reconnecting. Use the available host controls to pause or skip a round. In drawing, bluffing and pitching, the host can close voting when waiting for missing ballots.

Can the host play too?

Yes. Keep the host dashboard available and join the room as a player on a phone. The TV display is the shared view; it does not take a player slot.

Can I join after a game starts?

You can open the room link while a game is running. Follow the waiting instructions on your phone; whether you can take part immediately depends on the current mode and round.

Which devices should we use?

Use a current browser with JavaScript enabled and a working internet connection. Give each player their own phone or browser device, and open the TV display on a screen everyone can see. If scanning a QR code opens an in-app browser, try opening the link in your usual browser.

How do I get back to my host account?

Use the sign-in method you used to create the account. If you used Google, choose Continue with Google. For account access problems, contact support from your account email. Never send your password or a sign-in token.

Before your first game

What is Quip Riot?

Quip Riot is a browser party game collection for friends. Its seven modes include social voting, drawing, bluffing, invention pitches and maths races. A shared screen shows the game while players use their phones as controllers.

How many people can play?

A room supports up to 12 players. Who’s most likely?, Speed Auction and Redline start with 2; Sketchy Business, Confidently Incorrect and Pitch, Please need 3; Hot Seat Relay needs 4. Social voting is best with at least 3 players.

Do players need an account or an app?

Players need neither an account nor an app download. They join in a web browser using the room’s QR code, join link or six-letter room code. The host needs an account to create and manage online rooms.

What equipment do we need?

Use a shared browser screen, such as a laptop or a computer connected to a TV, plus a phone with a browser for each player. The online app needs an internet connection. A TV is optional if everyone can see the shared laptop screen.

How do I join a game?

Ask the host for the room’s QR code or join link. You can also open the join page, enter the six-letter room code, choose your name and avatar, and wait for the host to start.

Can we use our own questions?

Yes. Hosts can create custom question decks for Who’s most likely?, including questions about players or questions with custom answer options. The other modes use their own prompts and puzzles.
